The Canyon, located in Dahab, is a renowned dive site and a must-visit for enthusiasts of cave and cavern diving. This site offers an incredible underwater experience. The Canyon starts at a depth of up to 10 meters and is fully enclosed at the top, creating a winding path that emerges into a spacious coral dome brimming with glassfish, aptly named the Fishbowl.
To begin your dive, you will enter from the shore and cross a sandy lagoon which leads to a gently sloping reef characterized by coral heads. As you explore further, the impressive Canyon comes into view, showcasing three main openings. The first one, at approximately 12 meters, is the fishbowl. Just below, at around 20 meters, another sizable bowl reveals itself. The deepest opening, situated at 52-54 meters, serves as a narrow exit. The walls of the Canyon have grown together, forming a tunnel in between the openings that give the illusion of a clam shell's fluted mouth when viewed from above. Notably, as you sit in semi-darkness within the Canyon, take note of the mesmerizing sight of light peeking through the crack that forms the entry point.
For technical divers, the journey through the Canyon continues to the exit, where it ejects you at a depth of 54 meters. From there, you can continue descending to an extraordinary feature known as "Neptune's Chair," a magnificent rock formation resembling a colossal throne that rests at 73 meters. Behind Neptune's Chair, there is a cave that extends about 15-20 meters and reaches a maximum depth of 75 meters. Be sure to bring a torch to fully explore this enclosed space. It's important to note that the cave is a dead end, so there is no need for laying a line or any further navigation beyond this point.... Show More
