Dive Site Review: Chrisoula K
I recently dove the Chrisoula K wreck during my overnight trip on the Bella 3 from Sharm el Sheikh, Egypt, at the end of August 2024. This dive site is a captivating blend of history and underwater exploration.
Historical Background:
The Chrisoula K sank in August 1981 after running aground on the Sha’ab Abu Nuhas Reef while carrying tiles from Italy to Jeddah. Abandoned and eventually resting on the seabed, it has become a fascinating dive destination.
Diving Experience:
The wreck is mostly upright, with the lower stem accessible in just 1 meter of water. I was amazed by the open holds revealing cargo still in place and the relatively intact bridge deck. The engine room closed and you can’t visit it any more(. The twisted stern and the rear decks are also intriguing, featuring various structures and the propeller at a depth of 26 meters.
For All Levels:
Chrisoula K is perfect for divers of all skill levels, from novices swimming above the wreck to experienced divers exploring deeper sections.
In summary, diving the Chrisoula K was an unforgettable experience filled with history and adventure. I highly recommend it to anyone visiting the Red Sea and can’t wait for my next dive! ... Show More
