If you're seeking an unforgettable underwater adventure, look no further than Gordon Reef in the Red Sea. Renowned as one of the premier dive sites in Sharm El Sheikh, and indeed the world, Gordon Reef is a diver's paradise that promises a diverse marine ecosystem and stunning underwater landscapes, anchored by the iconic wreck of the Louilla.
Upon entering the water, divers are greeted by a shallow sandy area that feels like an enchanting aquatic wonderland. Here, I was fortunate enough to encounter the beautiful Blue Spotted Sting Rays gliding gracefully along the seabed, while schools of Cornet Fish and the vibrant Goat Fish added bursts of color to the sandy expanse. Baby Napoleons, with their charming and curious nature, provided a delightful sight, showcasing the thriving life that thrives in this area.
As I made my way toward the plateau of hard coral, I was captivated by the rich tapestry of reef fish that flitted about. The sight of Banner Fish, Butterfly Fish, and Parrot Fish was nothing short of mesmerizing. Each species added its own unique hue to the coral garden, and the sheer abundance of life was a testament to the health of this reef ecosystem. The plateau itself is a diver's dream, offering ample opportunities for exploration and photography.
The adventure truly escalates as the plateau transitions to a dramatic drop-off. Here, the thrill of diving reaches new heights. The Potato Groupers, with their impressive size and gentle demeanor, were a highlight, while the occasional sight of White Tip Sharks patrolling the depths added an exhilarating edge to the experience.
One of the standout features of Gordon Reef is its accessibility, making it suitable for divers of all experience levels. Whether you're a novice eager to explore the shallow waters or an experienced diver seeking the thrill of deeper encounters, this dive site has something for everyone.
In summary, diving at Gordon Reef is an experience that lingers long after you've surfaced. The combination of stunning marine life, vibrant coral formations, and the allure of the Louilla wreck creates an underwater tapestry that is simply unforgettable. For anyone visiting Sharm El Sheikh, a dive at Gordon Reef is not just a recommendation; it’s an absolute must!... Show More

Gordon Reef stands out due to the presence of the sunken Panamanian cargo ship called Loullia, which provides a captivating underwater sight. Alongside this unique wreckage, divers can delight in the diverse array of coral species, spot small nudibranches tucked away in crevices, and marvel at the elegance of soft corals. The reef is also known for its exciting encounters with White Tip Reef Sharks and majestic Eagle Rays. As you navigate through the middle of the reef, you will stumble upon metal drums that serve as residences for curious Octopuses and an assortment of eels, including Moray, Peppered, and Gold edged morays. It's important for divers to exercise caution as strong currents can be encountered at the north and southern ends of this reef.... Show More
