Diving in the Red Sea is a dream for many, and Ras Katy stands out as an ideal spot for both novice and experienced divers alike. Nestled in a tranquil bay, this location offers calm conditions that are perfect for learning to dive. As a beginner, I found the steady waters to be incredibly reassuring, allowing me to focus on my skills without the distraction of strong currents.
One of the highlights of Ras Katy is the main pinnacle, just 30 meters from the main reef, extending from the surface to a depth of 18 meters. This pinnacled formation is a vibrant hub of marine life, and I was thrilled to encounter schools of Fusiliers darting around, as well as the charming Clown Fish nestled in the anemones. The visibility was fantastic, making it easy to spot the fascinating Pipe Fish and the majestic Napoleons that glide gracefully around the area.
The marine biodiversity here is truly impressive, and the hard coral is in excellent condition. The Fire Coral, in particular, stood out with its vivid colors and intricate formations. It’s clear that the local ecosystem is thriving, which only enhances the diving experience. The drop-off nearby, descending to an astonishing 70 meters, provides the thrill of exploring deeper waters for those looking to venture beyond the shallows.
Overall, Ras Katy is a gem in the Red Sea, offering a perfect blend of calm diving conditions and spectacular underwater scenery. Whether you’re just starting your diving journey or looking to explore vibrant marine life, this spot should be on your list. I certainly can't wait to return for another dive!... Show More
