Diving at Ras Nasrani is an experience that beautifully encapsulates the diverse underwater offerings of the Red Sea. This dive site, known for its impressive wall that plunges to about 50 meters, combined with a fascinating coral plateau, makes it a must-visit for divers of all levels.
As we descended into the inviting blue, the sheer scale of the wall took my breath away. The vertical drop-off is dotted with small pinnacles and crevices, creating an intricate playground for marine life. I was fortunate enough to spot Giant Morays peeking out from their rocky lairs, their curious eyes watching us as we glided by. The Puffer Fish were equally delightful, showcasing their distinctive shapes and vibrant colors as they swam among the corals.
One of the standout features of Ras Nasrani is the shallow area that offers a unique opportunity for divers to practice buoyancy control. Swimming through hula hoops in this relaxed setting is not only fun but also a great way to improve diving skills. It's a thoughtful addition that makes this dive site accessible and enjoyable for novice divers while still captivating for more experienced ones.
As we ventured deeper into the dive, I was enchanted by the coral garden that ranges from 5 to 14 meters. The stunning formations of soft coral, Gorgonian Fans, and Porite Corals create a vibrant ecosystem teeming with life. One particular highlight was discovering a striking Red Anemone nestled within the coral garden at around 18 meters—a brilliant splash of color against the backdrop of the reef, making for a perfect photo opportunity.
The overall ambiance of Ras Nasrani is serene, allowing divers to take their time exploring the stunning marine life and intricate coral structures. The visibility was excellent, enhancing the experience as we encountered various reef fish darting playfully around us.
In summary, diving at Ras Nasrani is an exhilarating experience that caters to all levels of divers. With its stunning wall, vibrant coral garden, and unique features like the buoyancy practice area, it offers a perfect mix of adventure and skill development. I left this dive site with a sense of wonder and a desire to return, eager to explore more of its underwater treasures. Ras Nasrani, derived from the Arabic name meaning "Christian cape," offers a splendid diving experience. The dive starts from a small sandy plateau, beginning at approximately 6 meters depth, where a sand flow originates. From here, you will head northwards towards the cape, taking advantage of the current, which typically ranges from weak to moderate but can become stronger near the headland. As you continue your dive, you will encounter large gorgonians at around 20 meters depth, followed by extensive colonies of mushroom-shaped Porites coral heads. These coral formations become even more abundant beyond the cape. The dive route takes you through the zone located between the reef slope, which features numerous small shelters adorned with vibrant Alcyonarians, and the drop-off situated about 30 meters away. Additionally, Ras Nasrani boasts the most impressive shallow coral formations in Sharm, making it an excellent snorkeling spot as well.... Show More
