Diving at the Temple dive site was an extraordinary experience that left me in awe of the underwater world. Named for its stunning coral columns that resemble majestic structures, this site offers a unique and captivating diving experience.
As we descended, the sight of the large pinnacle rising dramatically from the seafloor to the surface was breathtaking. The sheer scale of this formation created a sense of wonder, and the vibrant colors of the surrounding corals added to the visual feast. The corals here are diverse, showcasing a variety of shapes and sizes, and they are home to an abundance of marine life.
One of the highlights of the dive was encountering Giant Morays nestled within the crevices of the pinnacle. Their impressive size and intriguing patterns made for an exciting sight. Additionally, we came across Blue Spotted Sting Rays gracefully resting on the sandy bottom, adding to the charm of the dive. The large groups of Lion Fish were particularly mesmerizing, their striking appearance and elegant movements captivating our attention. Scorpion Fish, known for their incredible camouflage, were also present, cleverly blending into their surroundings and challenging us to spot them.
As we explored further, we were treated to the sight of beautiful Gorgonian Fans swaying gently with the current, contributing to the stunning scenery. The vibrant marine life combined with the colorful corals created a rich tapestry that was a joy to explore.
The dive was well organized, with a knowledgeable guide who pointed out various species and ensured that we adhered to safety protocols. The visibility was excellent, allowing us to fully appreciate the intricate details of the coral formations and marine life.
Overall, the Temple dive site is a must-visit for any scuba diving enthusiast. Without a doubt, The Temple is hands down my favorite dive site. It holds a special place in my heart, as it serves as our house reef and is located on the picturesque north side of Sharm El Sheikh Harbor. This incredible site is composed of a group of three majestic pinnacles that rise up from 20 meters below all the way to the water's surface, creating a visually stunning underwater landscape.
As you explore this flat, sloping reef, you'll encounter two prominent pinnacles, with a few smaller ones adding contour to the reef face. The largest of the pinnacles, aptly named "The Tower," boasts an awe-inspiring formation split by two major fissures. While one of the fissures can be swum through, it's important to exercise caution and avoid the second one to protect the delicate gorgonians that grace its sides. Surprisingly, each of these pinnacles is a hidden treasure trove, harboring a diverse array of reef animals that are sure to captivate your senses.
The close proximity of the pinnacles creates sand channels between them, while their sheer walls are adorned with a breathtaking display of soft and hard corals, fan corals, and an abundance of reef fish. The prolific coral growth throughout the site is truly impressive, boasting a density and variety of species that is difficult to rival in the surrounding area. Prepare to be mesmerized by the vibrant blanket of colors that adorn these underwater wonders. And let's not forget the incredible range of fish species that call this place home – from charismatic lionfish to perfectly camouflaged stonefish. Keep an eye out for the graceful schools of glass sweepers that elegantly dance around the pinnacles.
One of the unique features of The Temple is its popularity as a night-dive site due to its close proximity to Sharm El Sheikh and Na'ama Bay. Under the cover of darkness, the reef truly comes alive. Witness the enchanting spectacle of basket stars creating an illusionary curtain in the gentle current as they feed. With each touch of your dive light, they retreat into a protective ball, only to gracefully expand back out once the light fades away. The feather stars and soft corals come alive in a vivid array of colors, creating a mesmerizing sight under the dive lights. Explore the crevices and you may discover shy parrotfish, some of which may even be surrounded by their protective cocoons.
The Temple offers a diverse range of depths, typically ranging from 5 to 20 meters, making it easily accessible from our shore. Whether you're a novice or experienced diver, this stunning dive site promises an unforgettable underwater adventure. Get ready to immerse yourself in the beauty of The Temple and create lifelong memories in this underwater paradise.... Show More
