Greg & Mel's dive site, Lake Diefenbaker
This was a new site for us. Take the road just East of the restaurant by the dam and follow it South until you get to a small group of trees. There is a nice grassy area to park on before a short drop to the beach. Entry into the water is very smooth and gradual. The beach is predominantly sandy with some small gravel. In the lake there is a line running North to south at about 20' depth (depending on lake level). At the North end is an oval course of hoops to swim through. Where the course starts is a line going east and deeper. Visibility was 3', 5' if your buddy had a flashlight. We saw several crawfish in mating colors. Water was 14C but we only went to about 22'. We were wearing 10-14mm wetsuits, boots, gloves and hoods and were warm enough for 35 min dive.... Show More Jun. 10, 2018

I would give this site a rating of 2 broken masks and one kick to the head by my buddy if it were possible. We went here late in the summer so algae reduced visibility to 1 foot and even that required a flashlight in the middle of the day. This lake is a fishing and water sports destination, most people don't know what a dive flag means. We didn't get to the point that we were at risk because we got separated on the descent and surfaced after a few minutes. I do think that we were the best entertainment the fishers and boaters had all day. Max depth was 23 feet. ... Show More Nov. 14, 2017

This is a quiet lake. We dove by an island on the north side of the lake. There is a sailing club that uses the lake, they are based on the east side of the lake. A friend who is associated with the club warned me about a whirl pool in the south east, we avoided that area and didn't see any evidence of one. Visibility was ~10 feet, it was cold. You can download a depth map from Angler's Atlas to plan your dive. ... Show More Nov. 12, 2017

Not for the faint of heart! Visibility is a trade off with temperature. If you can handle the cold dive as early in the year as possible to avoid the algae. Max depth was 42 feet, average was 35 feet. Most of what we saw was lake trash but some of it looked pretty historical. ... Show More Nov. 12, 2017

We chose this site for the swim through which was ~10 feet long. The current was working against us so we had to work to get to it. Max depth was 51 feet, average was 39 feet. We saw lots of fish. ... Show More Nov. 12, 2017

Punta Negra Reef, Cancun
This was an easy site. There were lots of fish to see and at least one swim through if you are looking for something a bit challenging. Current is a factor in Cancun so hopefully the boat captain knows how to follow divers (ours did) and plan on drifting with it. ... Show More Nov. 12, 2017

This was a good company to dive with. They picked us up from our hotel beach. They knew sites and conditions in the area and how they change. They politely suggested an easy site for our first dive (so they could find out what our abilities REALLY were). I would use them again. ... Show More Nov. 12, 2017

We shared this site with several other diving groups, it looked busy on the surface but there was enough room under water. Visibility was 10-20 feet. The guide warned us about a drop off in the area, several divers have died (and not been recovered) there due to the current that pulls straight down. There is a memorial that we saw on the boat ride to the site, so it should be easy to avoid. ... Show More Nov. 11, 2017

Whiteswan, Whiteswan Lake
I completed my open water certification at this site. For Saskatchewan it is a pretty good site. There's lot to see at the dive sites, the rest of the lake isn't very interesting, we did some shore dives on another trip. The accommodations in the area range from camping to cabins. The cabins are rustic. ... Show More Nov. 11, 2017

The Diving Center, Saskatoon
This isn't just a store or school, it's both. George and the staff are very knowledgeable about everything they represent. I haven't had a question that they don't have an answer to. They also know a lot about other places around the world so if you are thinking about going somewhere they are a great resource for asking questions. My family has used them for years and continues to go back. ... Show More Nov. 11, 2017
