New on TheScubaDirectory Blog | 5 Ways to Improve Buoyancy | | | Good buoyancy control is crucial in scuba diving to conserve energy and air, allowing for longer and more enjoyable dives. It helps protect marine environments by preventing accidental contact with reefs and minimizes risks like rapid ascents or descents that can lead to injury. Proper buoyancy also safeguards gear from damage, enhances coordination with dive buddies, and ensures a safer, more relaxed experience overall. Below are 5 ways you can improve your buoyancy for your next dive. 1. Master Proper Weighting 2. Control Your Breathing 3. Use Your BCD Efficiently 4. Streamline Your Body and Gear 5. Stay Relaxed and Minimize Movement Read full blog | Been Diving or Snorkeling Lately? | | Image Credit: TSD User SarinaM | Your insights make a real difference! This next-generation regulator integrates with the Pulsa dive computer and Aqulung app, offering a variety of data via real time monitoring. Aqualsense earned the 2025 “Best of Innovation” distinction at CES and is giving a good glimpse into the future of where dive gear is heading. Aquasense will be available at retailers and dive centers later this year. Key Features: - Real-Time Monitoring: Provides immediate feedback on respiratory information, dive position, and pressure.
- LED Alerts: Offers visual cues to keep divers informed of critical information.
- Wireless Communication: Facilitates seamless connectivity between divers and surface teams.
- Extended Battery Life: Supports up to one week of intensive diving on a single charge.
- User-Friendly Integration: Works in tandem with the Pulsa dive computer and Aqualung App for a cohesive diving experience.
Learn More | Divers Found After 27-Hour Drift in Palau | | Photo by Kevin C. Charpentier: www.pexels.com | A group of divers and their guide went missing while exploring Peleliu Corner, a dive site in Palau known for its challenging currents. Initial rescue efforts focused on searching southward, where currents have historically carried divers in similar incidents. However, U.S. Coast Guard drift modeling suggested the group was likely swept north. This crucial insight shifted the search area, leading to their discovery approximately 50 kilometers (30 miles) northwest of Peleliu after 27 hours adrift. Thanks to the coordinated efforts of local rangers, Palau’s Division of Marine Law Enforcement, private boat operators, and advanced modeling by the Coast Guard, all nine individuals were rescued in good health. Reminder to never dive without a Surface Marker Buoy. | New Record for Deepest Underwater Photoshoot | | Image Credit: Steven Haining | Photographer and film director Steven Haining, alongside model Ciara Antowski, achieved a new Guinness World Record for the deepest underwater photoshoot, reaching a depth of 163.38 feet (49.80 meters). This accomplishment surpasses the previous record of 131 feet set in December 2023. This dive is particularly significant as it ventured below the 130-foot (39.62 meters) mark, entering the decompression zone. As we know, diving beyond 130 feet (39.62 meters) introduces increased risks, including decompression sickness. To mitigate the risks, both Haining and Antowski dedicated a year to specialized training and preparation. The photoshoot took place at the Hydro Atlantic shipwreck near Boca Raton, Florida. The resulting images capture the unique challenges and beauty of deep-sea photography. Read more |  | Thanks for reading!
