The app aims to predict underwater visibility at specific dive locations. What It Does - Marla Blue provides forecasts of how clear the water will be at various dive sites.
- It gives hourly visibility forecasts for today, tomorrow, and recent days so you can track trends or see how conditions are changing.
The app combines over a decade of satellite observations with environmental inputs like wind strength, wave/swell conditions, recent rainfall, topography, and chlorophyll concentration (which indicates algae or plankton density). Currently the app covers the UK and Ireland. Expansion is planned to include other dive-regions such as Australia. Learn More | Underwater Heist at Disney Springs | | | | | At Disney World’s Disney Springs, a thief in full scuba gear pulled off a robbery straight out of a James Bond movie. His target was The Paddlefish restaurant, a massive steamboat-style eatery anchored on Lake Buena Vista. According to reports, the man swam in underwater, stashed his dive gear, and slipped aboard unnoticed. Once inside, he headed straight for the back office where two employees were in the middle of depositing cash. In less than two minutes, he had allegedly forced them to shut their eyes, grabbed somewhere between $10,000 and $20,000, and vanished back into the night escaping by water just as he’d arrived. No one was harmed, and the suspect is still at large. | Garmin Launches the Descent X30 | | | | Garmin just unveiled the Descent X30, a new large-format dive computer with a 2.4" display, one of the biggest on the market. Built from recycled ocean-bound plastics, it’s rugged, eco-friendly, and designed for easy readability underwater. Key features: - 30-hour battery life in dive mode
- NDL Aware depth metrics to track no-decompression limits
- Multi-gas support (including trimix)
- Surface GPS + 3-axis compass for navigation
