Dive Shop Icon Humpback Dive Shack, Grand Turk

Brian and Sabine have a different operation from the other dive shops on Grand Turk. Unlike the other shops which mostly rely on either flat bottomed Carolina Skiffs or much larger tourist boats to handle cruise ship traffic, Humpback uses a well powered, dual outboard "V" hulled custom boat that can really handle open ocean and rougher seas. This gives them range. Brian is a marine biologist and they work as a husband and wife team. If you want to get past the great enough wall diving in Columbus National Park and visit more remote sites, consider contacting them and arranging a trip. They do charge a bit more and they also cater to day trippers flying in from Provo.... Show More Feb. 13, 2020

Dive Shop Icon Grand Turk Diving Company, Grand Turk

We have dove over a hundred dives over the past five years with Grand Turk Diving Company. Smitty, Jason and Chris and the crew there are exceptionally knowledgeable, easy going and helpful. It seems many of the locals use Grand Turk Diving Company as a primary, go to operation. Smitty literally wrote the book on Grand Turk Diving. You can buy a copy at the shop. They, like many of the shops on Grand Turk, use Carolina skiffs to navigate the sometimes shallow shore landings. Usually 2 to six or seven divers go out on a dive, together. Although we usually bring most of our gear, on those occasions where we've had to use the shop's gear, it has been fine.... Show More Feb. 11, 2020

Dive Flag Catacombs, South Caicos

We dove this in January 2020 with Eastbay Resort. Normally this site is too exposed with too much current but we had perfect conditions and west winds so it was actually an easy dive for the topography. Visibility was 100’+ And temperature was 79. Minimal current. Start the dive at the top of the reef wall at about 50’. Decend down the wall to about 85’. You need a guide as the entrance is a five foot wide slot in the reef wall. The slot extends all the way to the top of the wall without widening. Along the bottom of the slot are multiple caves. Enter the caves under the direction of a guide and many of them finally exit onto the wall face. This is a spectacular cave and slot canyon system. You would not want to be in there with any current! The South Caicos Reef has been trashed with bleaching in fall 2019, over fishing and a spreading coral disease. There were some typical reef fish and gorgonians but the hard vitals are really hurting. I would go out of my way to dive this one!!... Show More Feb. 10, 2020
