The 'go-to' shore dive on the island. Nice site that is typically a popular spot so you may need to wait your turn entering/exiting the water. Viz and fluctuate day to day but is usually pretty good.

Great shore dive with parking lot, space to gear up, and easy entry into the ocean. You can dive this site many different ways and navigation is all very simple. Great spot for beginners.

Dove this a couple times in March. Easy entry down a boat ramp, but can be a bit slippery. There are several directions you can go at this site. We tried going right and left along the corral.
Descent viability ~20ft. Saw a variety of life: octopus, bluestriped lizardfish, ~10 eels of a variety of types, pyramid butterfly fish, a few huge turtles sleeping in the corral, scorpion fish.
They say this is the only shore dive on Kauai. We put that to the test. We shore dove several other locations on the island. Our best shore dives apart from Koloa Landing were at Salt Pond and Prince Kuhio's (PK's).

Boat ramp entry and exit. Fairly easy, and good for beginners. Slippery towards the bottom. Quite busy as it is one of the main shore diving spots on the island, and is also shared with snorklers. Visibility was poor initially swimming out but improved as you dive farther out. There is a couple different directions you can go out, our group went straight out. Average depth was 20 ft. Marine life spotted was a couple turtles - 1 very large one sleeping under the reef, few different eals and several trumpet fish. ... Show More

The entry is down a boat ramp and easy to get in the water. There is parking right by the water so you won't need to haul your gear far from your car. It seems this is the only shore dive that any of the dive operators on the island will take divers so expect it to be busy. However, there are several different ways to dive this site so it is possible to dive without seeing any other divers underwater. At this site I've seen octopus, big turtles, and several different eel species.... Show More

Dove this site yesterday. It was an easy entry, the ramp was a little slippery right where it entered the water but there was a sandy spot to stand in and put your flippers on. The water visibility was OK but not great. Water temp was 24 C. This was our first dive of the trip so we took it easy. Max depth 10 meters, we swam along the west side of the sandy finger along the rock and coral edge. Easy navigation. Saw a big turtle a large moray and an octopus out free swimming. There was a fair amount of other fish around but no sponges or fans.... Show More
